- Adequacy of study:
- key study
- Study period:
- From march to march 2018
- Reliability:
- 1 (reliable without restriction)
- Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
- guideline study
- Qualifier:
- according to guideline
- Guideline:
- EU Method A.9 (Flash-Point)
- Qualifier:
- according to guideline

- Expiration date of the lot/batch: 05 December 2018
- Manufacturing test date: 05 December 2017 - Key result
- Flash point:
- 136 °C
- Atm. press.:
- 101 kPa
- Interpretation of results:
- GHS criteria not met
- Conclusions:
- The determination of the flash point was performed by an equilibrium with a closed cup method (called “Small Scale”), following Method A.9 of Regulation No. 440/2008 and complying with the methods of the guideline ISO 3679. (2004), determination of flash point – Rapid equilibrium closed cup method.
Two determinations both gave a corrected flash point of 136.0°C at 101.3 kPa.
The corrected flash point of the test item was determined to be 136.0°C at 101.3 kPa (lowest value of two independent determinations).
Reference
Pre-test
The flash point of the test item was estimated at 139.0°C during the pre-test.
First determination
The flash point of the test item was estimated at 135.0°C during the first determination.
An automatic correction was applied to the obtained result because the ambient pressure was not 101.3 kPa but 98.0 kPa.
With this correction, the flash point value is 136.0°C at 101.3 kPa.
Second determination
The flash point was detected at 135.0°C andthe same automatic correction was applied because the ambient pressure was still 98.0 kPa.
With this correction, the flash point value is 136.0°C at 101.3 kPa.
Control of the performance of the method
- A flash point of 193.0°C was registered for the reference substance glycerol (Batch N° 17I194130)
- A flash point of 76.0°C was registered for the Certified Reference Material (CRM) (Batch N°1162111a)
Discussion and Validation of the results
Each measured flash point value for the two reference substances (glycerol and CRM) respects the checking cards limits and complies with the validation criteria ( 195.0+/-4.0°C and 75.5 +/- 2 °C).
The results of the two determinations (136.0°C and 136.0°C at 101.3 kPa) meet validation criteria (less than 1°C of difference).
Therefore, the results are considered as valid.

Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Flash point at 101 325 Pa:
- 136 °C
