The 48-h EC50 value is >3000 mg/L (nominal) in Daphnia magna.

The acute toxicity to aquatic invertebrates was determined in a study according to EU C.2 and in compliance with GLP criteria (Henkel, 1998). In this study daphnids (D. magna, 10 per concentration) were exposed to loading rates of concentrations of 0 (control), 1000 and 3000 mg/L for 48 hours under static conditions. Test concentrations were analytical verified at the start of the test and after 24 hours and 48 hours exposure. Measured concentrations were recorded to be higher than the water solubility (up to ca. 2 mg/L for the 1000 mg/L loading rate and up to ca. 6.4 mg/L for the 3000 mg/L loading rate) and with increasing test concentration more test substance particles were observed at the surface of the test meium and on the bottom of the beaker. This is however not considered to have negatively influenced the outcome of the test. Immobilization of daphnids was recorded after 24 and 48 hours exposure. In the 1000 mg/L test group no signs of immobilisation were noted throughout the test. In the 3000 mg/L test group 10% immobilisation was recorded after 48 hours exposure. Based on these findings the 48 -h EC50 value was determined at >3000 mg/L. Due to the low water solubility and the related low recovery of test substance, the EC50 was based on the nominal concentration.
