Description of key information

The acute toxicity of the read-across material, acrylamide, to fish was assessed according to OECD Test Guideline 203. The 96 h LC50 was 180 ppm.

Additional information

The short term toxicity to fish of the read-across material, acrylamide, was assessed according to OECD Test Guideline 203. Freshwater trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) were exposed to the read-across material for 96 hours in a static freshwater test at nominal concentrations of 0, 62.5, 125, 250, 500 and 1000 ppm in open 4 L polypropylene vessels.  Mortality, behaviour (lethargy, erratic swimming), and physiology (discoloration) were measured initially and daily thereafter.

At 250, 500 and 1000 ppm there was 100 % mortality. No mortality was observed at 125 ppm, and 10 % mortality at 62.5 ppm. The LC50 value was based on graphical interpolation.

The 96 hour LC50 was 180 ppm.
