Description of key information

Flammability in contact with water

A test substance is considered highly flammable when it ignites spontaneously in contact with water, or evolves a flammable gas at a minimum rate of ≥ 1 litre/kg of the substance per hour.

Based on structural features it was concluded that the test substance is 'not highly flammable' in contact with water as it does not contain groups (such as (alkali) metal or metalloid, small (in) organic salt, (non) metal hydride, (alkali) metal amide, (non) metal halides, organic acid halide or Grignard reagent) that might lead to ignition in contact with water and/or to the evolution of a flammable gas. Moreover, the test substance was proven to be well soluble in water during the water solubility test which demonstrated that the substance does not ignite spontaneously in contact with water.

Pyrophoric properties

A test substance is considered pyrophoric when it ignites within five minutes of coming in contact with air.

Based on evaluation of the structural features of 3-Metylpyrazole it was concluded that the substance has no pyrophoric properties as the test substance does not contain groups (such as alkali metals, (non) metal hydrides, metal carbonates, Grignard reagent or small (in) organic salts) that might lead to ignition in contact with air.
