Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
The performance of a long-term toxicity study to fish has been waived due to:
1. No acute aquatic effects to fish.
2. Natural occurrence and abundance of silicates in the environment.
3. Aquatic environment only minor recipient of synthetic amorphous silicates.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
Additional information
Due to the known inherent physico-chemical properties, the absence of acute aquatic toxic effects with aluminium sodium silicates, as well as the ubiquitous presence of silica/silicates in the environment, there is no indication for harmful long-term effects arising from exposure to Silicic acid, aluminum sodium salt (CAS 1344-00-9, NAS). Released into the environment, synthetic amorphous silica and silicates, including synthetic amorphous aluminum sodium silicate, are expected to be distributed mainly into soils and sediments, and only weakly into water. The bioavailable form of synthetic amorphous silica and silicate is the dissolved form that exists exclusively as monosilicic [Si(OH)4] acid under environmental pH and is indistinguishable from the natural form. Dissolved silica can be actively assimilated by some marine and terrestrial organisms as normal natural processes mainly related to structural function, showing that organisms are already adapted to silica/silicates in the environment.
