Endpoint:
partition coefficient
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
5 October 2006 - 12 January 2007
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 107 (Partition Coefficient (n-octanol / water), Shake Flask Method)
Version / remarks:
27 July 1995
Deviations:
no
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.8 (Partition Coefficient - Shake Flask Method)
Version / remarks:
December 1992
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
estimation method (solubility ratio)
Remarks:
Since the test substance is a salt, the flask-shaking method, HPLC method and calculation method are not applicable.
Partition coefficient type:
octanol-water
Analytical method:
high-performance liquid chromatography
Key result
Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
> 2.7
Temp.:
20 °C
Remarks on result:
other: pH not mentioned in report
Details on results:
All analysed concentrations of the test substance in n-octanol were higher than 1:1 (w/v). It was therefore concluded that the solubility of the test substance in octanol was > 1000 g/L. Taking into account the water solubility of 1.82 g/L, the Pow, calculated as the quotient of the octanol and water solubility, is > 549. This corresponds to a log Pow value of > 2.7.
Conclusions:
The estimation method was used for the determination of the Pow of the test substance. The Pow and Log Pow values of the test substance are >549 and >2.7, respectively.

Description of key information
