Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Skin contact: Remove all contaminated clothes and footwear immediately. Wash immediately with plenty of soap and water. Consult a doctor.

Eye contact: Bathe the eye with running water for 15 minutes. Consult a doctor.

Ingestion: Wash out mouth with water. If conscious, give half a litre of water to drink immediately. Transfer to hospital as soon as possible.

Inhalation: Remove casualty from exposure ensuring one's own safety whilst doing so. If conscious, ensure the casualty sits or lies down. If unconscious, check for breathing and apply artificial respiration if necessary. If breathing becomes bubbly, have the casualty sit and provide oxygen if available. Consult a doctor.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media: Water. Carbon dioxide. Alcohol resistant foam. Dry chemical powder. Use water spray to cool containers.

Exposure hazards: Flammable. In combustion emits toxic fumes of carbon dioxide / carbon monoxide. In combustion emits toxic fumes of sulphur oxides. Vapour may travel considerable distance to source of ignition and flash back.

Advice for fire-fighters: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Wear protective clothing to prevent contact
with skin and eyes.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions: Do not attempt to take action without suitable protective clothing - see section 8 of SDS.
Evacuate the area immediately. Mark out the contaminated area with signs and prevent access to unauthorised personnel. Eliminate all sources of ignition. Turn leaking containers leak-side up to prevent the escape of liquid.

Environmental precautions: Contain spillage Do not discharge into drains or rivers.

Clean-up procedures: Absorb into dry earth or sand. Do not use equipment in clean-up procedure which may produce sparks. Transfer to a closable, labelled salvage container for disposal by an appropriate method.

Handling and storage

Handling requirements: Avoid direct contact with the substance. Ensure there is sufficient ventilation of the area.
Do not handle in a confined space. Use non-sparking tools. Earth any equipment used in handling. Avoid the formation or spread of mists in the air.

Storage conditions: Store in cool, well ventilated area. (15°C-25°C) Ensure lighting and electrical equipment are not a source of ignition. Keep away from sources of ignition. Keep container tightly closed.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Engineering measures: Ensure there is sufficient ventilation of the area. Ensure lighting and electrical equipment are not a source of ignition.

Respiratory protection: Compressed airline breathing apparatus (EN139). Self-contained breathing apparatus must be available in case of emergency.

Hand protection: PVC gloves. / Rubber gloves.

Eye protection: Safety goggles. Ensure eye bath is to hand.

Skin protection: Protective clothing. Boots.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity: Stable under recommended transport or storage conditions.
Chemical stability: Stable under normal conditions.
Hazardous reactions: Hazardous reactions will not occur under normal transport or storage conditions.
Decomposition may occur on exposure to conditions or materials listed below.
Conditions to avoid: Heat. Sources of ignition. Air. Moist air. Humidity.
Materials to avoid: Strong oxidising agents. Strong bases.
Haz. decomp. products: Thioglycolic acid (TGA). In combustion emits toxic fumes of carbon dioxide / carbon monoxide. / In combustion emits toxic fumes of sulphur oxides.

Disposal considerations

Disposal operations: Transfer to a suitable container and arrange for collection by specialised disposal company.
Disposal of packaging: Dispose of in a regulated landfill site or other method for hazardous or toxic wastes.
NB: The user's attention is drawn to the possible existence of regional or national regulations regarding disposal.
