- no
Test substrate
- Vehicle:
- no
- Details on preparation and application of test substrate:
- - Method of mixing into soil (if used): 637.5 mg test substance were mixed with 6503 g of oven dried test soil in a HOBART blender. The stock mixture was directly used for the highest test concentration (100 mg/kg). In order to achieve the test concentrations of 1 mg/kg, 650 g of the stock mixture were mixed with the 5852 g of oven dried test soil (dilution 1:10). Then 650 g of the dilution 1:10 were mixed with 5852 g of oven dried test soil to obtain the lowest test concentration of 1 mg/kg. After dispensing the blends into the test containers the seeds were planted and covered with a thin layer of test soil. The water was added subsequently.

SOURCE AND PROPERTIES OF SUBSTRATE
80 % "Loess" and 20 % fine quartz sand, not sterilised soil with the following characteristics :
- pH : 6.9
- organic matter content : 4 %
GROWTH CONDITIONS
Air humidity: 42-88 %
Duration : 19 days
Type of testing facility: growth chamber
Watering : Humidity of soil was maintained during exposure at 65 % water retention capacity (corresponding to 7.3-20.4 % humidity in soil during the test, all species together) with daily control of
weight (pot including soil, water, plant) from Monday to Friday.
EFFECT PARAMETERS MEASURED :
Observations:
- Number of seedlings and any observable effects on appearance and growth.
Measurements:
- Dry weight of plant: Determination by drying for 24 hours at a temperature of 70°C to a constant
weight and reweighing.
- Soil Moisture: Determination by drying a small sample at a temperature of approx. 120°C to a
constant weight at the start and the end of exposure. Moisture is expressed as % of dry weight of soil,
- Air temperature and moisture: continuous Soil pH: pH-electrode / at the start and the end of exposure
- Organic matter content: determined with a soil sample (about 20 g) by weight difference between 120°C and 550°C. - Nominal and measured concentrations:
- 1, 10, 100 mg test substance/kg d.w.
- Reference substance (positive control):
- no
