Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The substance was tested as WAFs for its influence on the growth of the green alga Desmodesmus subspicatus over a period of 72 hours (RCC 1996). The study was performed according to the OECD Guideline No. 201 and GLP requirements.

This study examined three WAFs with loadings of 100, 33 and 10 mg/L, and an untreated control. Because of the large number of components present in the test article, no complete quantitative analysis could be performed. Instead, a HPLC profile of the UV-absorbing components was done in a separate study.

No inhibition of algae growth with respect to biomass and growth rate in the untreated control was observed at loadings of 10 and 33 mg/l. At the 100-mg/l loading, 75.6 % growth inhibition with respect to biomass, and 27.3 % growth inhibition with respect to growth rate were noted; moreover, both were statistically significantly inhibited when evaluated by Dunnett's test. Based on these observations and expressed as loading concentrations, after 72 hours of exposure the NOEC with respect to biomass and growth rate was 33 mg/L, respectively. The ErC50 (growth rate) was >100 mg/L, the EbC50 (biomass) was estimated by linear regression to be 69 mg/L.
