Description of key information
For the read-across substance, decanoic acid, ester with 2-ethyl-2-(hydroxymethyl)-1,3-propanediol octanoate, the EC50 (3h) and the EC10 (3h) were both determined as > 10000 mg/L. Therefore, by read-across, heptanoic acid, ester with 2-ethyl-2-(hydroxymethyl)-1,3-propanediol pentanoate is not expected to be harmful to microorganisms.

In an activated sludge, respiration inhibition test conducted with read-across substance, decanoic acid, ester with 2-ethyl-2-(hydroxymethyl)-1,3-propanediol octanoate, an increase of approximately 43% of the respiration rate could be observed at the nominal tested concentration of 10000 mg/L in comparison to the control. The EC50 (3h) and the EC10 (3h) were both determined as > 10000 mg/L.
