First-aid measures
- Following inhalation:
Remove the patient to fresh air and consult a doctor.
If breathing is irregular or has stopped, start artificial respiration and call a doctor.
Do not administer anything by mouth.
- Following skin contact:
Remove contaminated clothing and wash the skin thoroughly with soap and water.
- Following eye contact:
Wash with water for 15 minutes and consult an ophthalmologist if necessary.
- Following ingestion:
Accidental ingestion of soluble salts of oxalic acid leads to systemic poisoning by hypocalcaemia (tremor, convulsions, coma, coagulation disorders etc.) and notably acute nephritis with precipitation of insoluble oxalate crystals in the renal tubules.
- Most important symptoms and effects:
Chronic toxicity : Decrease in blood calcium level, renal problems, cardiovascular disorders.
Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed: Rinse the area in contact with the substance with plenty of water.
Fire-fighting measures
- Unsuitable extinguishing media: Water stream which may disperse the product.
- Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture: Thermal decomposition of the products emits toxic gases, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide.

Protective measures : Avoid contact with the skin. Seal off the area.
Special protective equipment : Self-contained breathing apparatus.
