Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Results and discussion

Toxicokinetic / pharmacokinetic studies

Details on distribution in tissues:
Microautoradiographic studies showed a relatively large uptake of Cr in the intestinal tissues. The uptake was probably concentrated to Leydig cells. No radioactivity was detected in blood vessels or in the spermatogenetic epithelium.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
Interpretation of results (migrated information): no data
After an intravenous injection of radiolabelled sodium dichromate the label was taken up in the interstitial tissues. No radioactivity could be detected in blood vessels or the spermatogenic epithelium. The authors speculated that the Leydig cells could be the primary target of chromium in the testis.
Executive summary:

A microautoradiographic study of the testis (no methodological details were provided) showed that after an intravenous injection of radiolabelled sodium dichromate the label was taken up in the interstitial tissues (Danielsson, Dencker et al. 1984). No radioactivity could be detected in blood vessels or the spermatogenic epithelium. The authors speculated that the Leydig cells could be the primary target of chromium in the testis.
