Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The Fe complex of DTPA was exposed to simulated sunlight and the rate of degradation was measured.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The half life for a 1:1 complex of Fe:DTPA in aqueous solution exposed to simulated sunlight was 8 minutes (<0.01days). The Fe complex is a common complex for chelants in the environment. A supporting study also showed that DTPA added as free acid degraded photochemically in humic lake water. Fe(III)DTPA was shown to be very photolabile in humic lake water in the summer where the photochemical half-life was below one hour.
