Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

EC50 (growth rate) > 120 mg/L based on nominal concentrations of TNS (22.44 mg/L based on 18.7% a.i.) and NOEC (growth rate) = 120 mg/L based on nominal concentrations of TNS (22.44 mg/L based on nominal 18.7% a.i.) are corroborated by the read across from Zonyl.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Zonyl and TNS are considered sufficiently similar to facilitate read-across of this data endpoint. A non GLP study with TNS gave rise to the following result for algae: EC50 (biomass) > 120 mg/L based on nominal concentrations of TNS ( > 22.44 mg/L based on 18.7% a.i.). For Zonyl, the EC50 (biomass) was > 100 mg/L based on nominal Zonyl concentrations ( > 35 mg/L based on nominal 35% a.i.). Because mean measured test concentrations were within 80% of nominal test concentrations, endpoints for the Zonyl study were based on nominal Zonyl test concentrations. Data from the guideline GLP study with Zonyl are consistent with the results of the non-GLP study with TNS. As part of a weight of evidence approach, these two studies adequately address the information requirements for algae and aquatic plants.
