Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets
Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove victim to fresh air, seek medical attention.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse with plenty of water (at least 10 minutes, timed).
[UK c.a.: Seek medical attention].
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with soap and water for 15 minutes, seek medical
attention.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek immediate medical attention. If victim is conscious
give liquid paraffin to drink. Do not induce vomiting
(aspiration is a potential hazard).
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: Suitable extinguishing agents are carbon dioxide, dry
chemical, foam and water fog (water may be ineffective but
may be used to cool surrounding containers). Firefighters
should wear a self-contained breathing apparatus.
Combustion products may contain carbon and sulphur oxides
together with hydrogen fluoride gas and some soot.
Accidental release measures
Handling and storage
Handling: Chemical splash goggles and impermeable nitrile or neoprene
gloves should be worn when handling IN-4 solution. Rubber
boots, apron and a face-shield should be worn if splashing
may occur. Where exposure is likely, wear a cannister type
respirator (BA 2091). For high levels of exposure a
self-contained breathing apparatus BS4667 parts 1 and 2)
should be worn. Local exhaust ventilation should be used.
Every effort should be made to minimise the potential for
exposure. Where possible, the substance should be handled
in enclosed (bulk) systems using engineering controls.
Storage: Store in a cool, clean well-ventilated area away from
sources of heat and ignition and away from oxidising
agents.

Danger other than fire: None reported
Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery of toluene solvent is possible. Recovery of the
substance is not possible.
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: None (Irish c.a. summary)
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended. However, disposal at a controlled landfill
site may be possible if in accordance with local
regulations.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Recommended method. [UK c.a.: Waste gas treatment to remove
sulphur oxides and hydrogen fluoride should be used].
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended.
Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will not enter the public domain
