- Details on results:
- The test item is considered to readily hydrolyse to aluminium hydroxide/oxide and ethanol, thus it was not possible to determine the solubility of the test item in the original state.
The aluminium and ethanol concentrations in water were measured to provide an assessment of water solubility. The solubility of the aluminium constituent has been reported. Ethanol is known to be fully miscible with water.
For additional information, the ethanol content was determined using gas chromatography with flame ionization detection and an external standard technique. - Conclusions:
- The water solubility of the test item (as aluminium) has been determined to be less than 0.018 mg/L of solution at 20°C.

The theoretical amount of ethanol in a nominal 1000 mg/L sample is 852 mg/L.
The temperature and pH are nominal values which are not quoted in data sources. The ethanol solubility value quoted is the nominal equivalent value to the density which in this case represents full miscibility with water.
Ethanol is often described as infinitely soluble in water.
Description of key information
The water solubility of the test item (as aluminium) has been determined to be less than 0.018 mg/L of solution at 20°C. The key value is considered to be based on aluminium. Ethanol which is an expected hydrolysis product of the substance is considered fully miscible in water.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Water solubility:
- 0.018 mg/L
- at the temperature of:
- 20 °C
