Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

A simulation study indicates that benzyl butyl phthalate degrades rapidly in natural river water.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The ready biodegradability of benzyl butyl phthalate, as shown in screening tests, means that a key simulation study is not required.
An existing simulation study (Saeger, 1982) reports that the half life of the test substance is 0.5 and 1.4 days with initial test substance concentrations of 50 and 500 µg/L respectively. This is used as a supporting study.
