One new substance added to the Candidate List, several entries updated
ECHA has added the substance PFHxS to the Candidate List. Entries for bisphenol A (EC 201-245-8; CAS 80-05-7) and four phthalates have been updated to include endocrine-disrupting properties for human health. The Candidate List of substances of very high concern (SVHCs) for authorisation now contains 174 substances.

International study on reputation of public sector organisations
ECHA has agreed to be part of an international scientific study into the measurement of reputation of public sector organisations. The study is being developed by the universities of Leiden, Utrecht (both in The Netherlands), and Sheffield (United Kingdom).

Updated list of substances with harmonised classification and labelling now available
ECHA has updated its list of hazardous substances with harmonised classification and labelling to take account of the Commission's update in the 10th adaptation to technical progress (ATP).
Other changes introduced by the 10th ATP, such as new notes, and acute toxicity estimates (ATEs), are also now on ECHA’s website (see News item from 17 May 2017).

Update to the Guidance in a Nutshell on registration published
Following the update of the Guidance on registration published in November 2016, the corresponding Guidance in a Nutshell on registration has now also been updated.
Workshop on applications for authorisation for environmental endocrine disruptors 22 August 2017, Brussels
ECHA is organising a technical workshop to have an open exchange of views between stakeholders and the Agency on the available scientific evidence relating to the hazard, risk and impact assessment of two substances recently added to the Authorisation List (Annex XIV) of the REACH Regulation on the basis of their endocrine-disrupting properties. These are:
entry 42: 4-(1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl)phenol, ethoxylated [4-tert-octylphenol, ethoxylated; 4-tert-OPnEO], and
entry 43: 4-nonylphenol, branched and linear, ethoxylated [4-NPnEO].
The workshop will particularly address whether it is possible to derive thresholds or dose-response relationships for these substances.
The seminar is organised at the European Commission premises and is free of charge. However, participants need to cover their own travel and accommodation costs.
Consultation event on REACH 2018 4-5 September 2017, Paris
The event will focus on practical advice on registration. There will be presentations on key topics and one-to-one sessions, where you can discuss your specific situation with experts from ECHA and the French national helpdesk.
Participation is free of charge, but participants need to register for the event by 15 August. The event can also be followed by web stream.
The two-day event is event is organised by the French Ministry of Environment, Energy and Marine Affairs in collaboration with the French National Institute for Industrial Environment and Risks and ECHA.
ECHA is planning to organise training sessions on Chesar this autumn. To make sure we meet your needs, we invite anyone interested in the training to reply to our survey by 15 August 2017. It will only take 5 minutes to complete. Based on your feedback, we will decide how many courses to organise and what to focus on.
Taking part in the training is free of charge. However, participants need to cover their own travel and accommodation costs.

Public consultation on migration limits for aluminium in toys
The Commission’s independent Scientific Committee on Health, Environmental and Emerging Risks (SCHEER) has launched a public consultation on 'Tolerable intake of aluminium with regards to adapting the migration limits for aluminium in toys'. Provide your comments by 10 September 2017.
