Description of key information

The peak areas of the pair of standards associated with a particular sample were corrected to nominal concentration and the mean value taken prior to the calculation of the sample concentrations.
The experimental procedure used compiled with that specified in Method A8 of Commission Directive 92/69/EEC (which constitutes Annex V of Council Directive 67/548/EEC).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

It has been decided that the Study conducted by Safepharm Laboratories Limited 703/029 is to be used as the key study Partition Coefficient study. This is because it follows accepted Guidelines (Method A.8 of Commission Directive 92/69/EEC), the other study did not follow accepted Guidelines. In addition, the Study 703/029 has been evaluated as Reliability 1 according to the KLIMISCH scale, while study #LT 00 -001 has been evaluated as Reliability 2. Therefore study 703 /029 yields more reliable results for the Partition Coefficient of the substance Alkane 4.

However, assessing all study data available the result can more accurately be extrapoalted to be >8. Therefore, the value >8 represents the substance Alkane 4 more accurately and will be used within the Chemical Safety Report (Section 13).

However it can be extrapolated that the result would more accurately be >8.
