Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

N-tallow alkyl derivates of 1,1'-[[3-[(3-aminopropyl)amino]propyl]imino]bis-2-Propanol exhibit significant effects to micro-organisms. In two studies on ready biodegradability (Thiébaud 1994 & Thiébaud & Moncel 1998), significant effects of N-tallow alkyl derivates of 1,1'-[[3-[(3-aminopropyl)amino]propyl]imino]bis-2-Propanol to the degradation capability of non-adapted activated sludge micro-organisms were observed. While the reference compound Sodium benzoate (CAS 532 -32-1) was not at all mineralized in the presence of 20.5 mg/L of the submission UVCB, only about 50% of the possible reference compound biodegradation occurred at 1.25 mg/L in 28 days. On the basis of these figures the EC50 is assigned to ca. 1.25 mg/L.

It is in agreement with ECHA (2008) Guidance, Chapter R.7b to use this type of information for the assessment of toxicity to micro-organisms. Chapter R.10.4.2 allows the derivation of the PNECstp on the basis of NOEC in biodegradation tests using. As only an EC50 can be derived from the studies an AF of 100 should apply.
