Description of key information

The performance of a test for toxicity to terrestrial arthropods was considered scientifically not justified. REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, Annex IX, Sect. 9.4, Col. 2, states as follows: “9.4: Effects on terrestrial organisms: These studies do not need to be conducted if direct and indirect exposure of the soil compartment is unlikely.” Direct and indirect exposure of the test item to soil is unlikely. Due to the rapid hydrolysis it can be assumed that upon contact with water, the test item undergoes rapid degradation within minutes resulting in the formation of respective degradation products. In addition the low octanol-water partition coefficient of the test item (log Kow = 2.92, calculated using EPIWIN, KOWWIN v1.68) indicates a low adsortion potential and a low dwell time of the test item in soil and thus a low exposure. Thus, testing of toxicity to terrestrial arthropods was considered scientifically not justified.
