Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The potential of Benzylamine to induce toxic effects in algae was investigated in one study which was performed according to OECD 201. In the study conducted in accordance with Method C.3 ‘Freshwater Alga and Cyanobacteria, Growth inhibition test’ (2009) which is equivalent to OECD 201, exponentially growing algal cells of Desmodesmus subspicatus were exposed for a period of 72 hours to a range of Benzylamine concentrations (3.1 - 100 mg/L). Inhibition of the algal population was measured as reduction in growth rate, relative to control cultures grown under identical conditions and the EC 50 value was determined at 50.0 mg/L and the EC 10 value at 17 mg/L after 72 hours.
