Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Key result
Test procedure:
burning time (test type not further specified)
Remarks:
or specified in description of method (migrated information)
Remarks on result:
other: The test item melts but does not burn after applying the flame of the burner.

After having applied the flame of the burner, the test item melted but did not ignite. Application time of the ignition source was 30 s, 60 s and 120 s. For all tested time regimes, the result was negative and interpreted as such that ACSplus is non flammable.

Conclusions:

The test item is not highly flammable in accordance with A.10 criteria.
Executive summary:

The test item 6

-[[(4-methylphenyl)sulphonyl]amino]hexanoic acid (trade name ASCplus) was tested for its flammability according to the EU method A.10 (Flammability of solids). The test item melted, but did not ignite after having applied the flame of the burner for 30, 60 and 120 s. Therefore, the test item is not highly flammable in accordance with A.10 criteria.
