Description of key information

LC50 (96 h) for Danio rerio = 7.1 mg a.i./L (nominal, OECD 203).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

LC50 for freshwater fish:
7.1 mg/L

Additional information

No acute fish studies on toxic effects of AES (C9 -11, 1 -2.5EO) Na (CAS 160901 -28 -0) are available. Therefore, a read-across approach from a structural comparable AES (C12 -14, 2.5EO) mixture was applied as a worst case scenario.

The study was performed according to OECD guideline 203 in compliance with GLP requirements. Under flow-through conditions zebra fish (Danio rerio) were exposed to AES (C12-14, 1-2.5EO) Na (CAS 68891-38-3). After 96 h a LC50 of 7.1 mg a.i./L (nominal) was determined (Sasol, 1995).
