Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The test item has a salt like character consisting of ethanolamine and etidronic acid. From a formal point of view the registered substance is readily biodegradable fulfilling the criteria for ready biodegradation.

From this point of view the parameter hydrolysis can be waived.

However, a closer look on the mass balance indicates that a stable metabolite may be formed.  Whereas the ethanolamine degrade fast (readily biodegradable according REACH dossier) after dissociation in water, the etidronic acid part may be stable. A REACH dossier is confirming that the substance is not readily biodegradable.

Therefore, the potential for hydrolysis was checked for the registered substance as well as for the ethidronic acid and ethalamine see also chapter 13 -Determination of Hydrolysis

registered substance: does not contain hydrolysis sensitive parts in the molecule -> no hydrolysis expected

ethidronic acid: does not contain hydrolysis sensitive parts in the molecule -> no hydrolysis expected

ethanolamine: does not contain hydrolysis sensitive parts in the molecule -> no hydrolysis expected

Key value for chemical safety assessment
