Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Based upon weight of evidence of important physico-chemical properties and available information. The water solubility of the chemical is reported to be 12.59 mg/L indicating slight water solubility which will ensure that the chemical shall be transferred by the blood to various parts of the body. The Log Kow value of the chemical is 2.6672 which according to the Lipinski rule shall ensure that the chemical shall be bio-available if ingested inside the human or animal body. The chemical has a Classification in the acute toxicity category 5 by the oral, dermal and inhalation route of exposure. The chemical 2-[2-[4-[(2-chloroethyl)ethylamino]-o-tolyl]vinyl]-1,3,3-trimethyl-3H-indolium chloride is used as an dyes and printing. Thus, exposure by the oral route is unlikely but exposure by the dermal route is likely. The vapour pressures of the chemical suggest that toxicity by the inhalation route is also not likely. The bio-concentration factor (BCF) of the chemical 2-[2-[4-[(2-chloroethyl)ethylamino]-o-tolyl]vinyl]-1,3,3-trimethyl-3H-indolium chloride is reported to be 3.162 L/kg wet-wt(Predicted value) which suggest a low bio-accumulation potential (Bio-accumulation factor, BAF = 47.5 L/kg wet-wt). However, in the absence of any authoritative information pertaining to the absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion of the chemical 2-[2-[4-[(2-chloroethyl)ethylamino]-o-tolyl]vinyl]-1,3,3-trimethyl-3H-indolium chloride, bio-accumulation potential cannot be judged relying on certain physico-chemical properties and available information on BCF and BAF.
