Details on inoculum:
The secondary effluent of a treatment plant (Jin-ju munsan public sewage treatment facility) was used as the inoculum. After collection, it was kept aerobic during transport and settled to
remove coarse particles for 1 hour. Then the inoculum was pre-conditioned by aerating for 5 days at the test temperature (22±2˚C) until required.

Executive summary:

The purpose of the study was to evaluate the test item, CELLCOM-H, for its ready biodegradability in the aquatic environment. Biodegradation was studied according to ‘OECD Guidelines (Test No. 301 Ready Biodegradability, 301 F MANOMETRIC RESPIROMETRY TEST, (17 July 1992))’ and ‘the National Institute of Environmental Research Guidelines (Biodegradation Test Method (Ready Biodegradability): Manometric Respirometry Test (Public Notice No. 2017-4))’.

The percentage microbial degradation of the reference item, sodium benzoate, was 74.4% at 14 days The percentage microbial degradation of the test item by BOD meter was 0.0±0.0% at 28 days.

Therefore, the test item, CELLCOM-H, could not be classified as readily biodegradable
