Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In a bacterial test using Pseudomonas putida (Hüls, 1994) after exposure to 4 nominal concentrations of 50, 75, 100 and 150 mg/L during 5 hours, the EC10 was 16 mg/L and the EC50 was 402 mg/L (both obtained by extrapolation). In the article of Sikkema and de Bont (1991) the order of magnitude of the onset bacteria toxicity is confirmed. They found that among 32 different organisms that can biodegrade 1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalene, the test substance was toxic at concentrations of 14.6 mg/L and higher for all strains.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for microorganisms:
402 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
16 mg/L
