Description of key information

A study was conducted to evaluate the effects of nonylphenol on survival, reproduction and growth, of Aporrectodea caliginosa. he effect concentration on growth, EC50, for nonylphenol was determined to be 23.9 mg/kg soil dw.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Long-term EC10, LC10 or NOEC for soil macroorganisms:
3.44 mg/kg soil dw

Additional information

A study was conducted to evaluate the effects of nonylphenol on survival, reproduction and growth, ofAporrectodea caliginosa.Ten adult worms (per concentration) were exposed to five different concentrations of nonylphenol, 0 (control), 2.5, 5, 10, 20 and 40 mg/kg dw (four replicates per concentration), for 21 d in a sandy soil. Under the test conditions, the LC50 for nonylphenol was determined to be >40 mg/kg soil dw . The effect concentrations for reproduction toxicity, EC10 and EC50, for nonylphenol were determined to be 3.44 mg/kg soil dw and 13.7 mg/kg soil dw. The effect concentration on growth, EC50, for nonylphenol was determined to be 23.9 mg/kg soil dw (Krogh, 1996).
