Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In the acute immobilisation test with Daphnia magna (STRAUS), the effects of the Water Accommodated Fractions (WAF) with the nominal loading of 100 mg/L of the source chemicals were determined according to OECD 202 under static conditions over a period of 48 hours. Twenty daphnids were exposed to the WAF and the control.
The tested WAF with a nominal loading of 100 mg/L of the test item and the control were analytically verified by analysis of dissolved organic carbon (DOC), measured as NPOC (Non Purgeable Organic Carbon), at the start of the exposure (0 h) and at the end of the exposure (48 h).
The measured concentrations of dissolved organic carbon in the WAF of source chemical 1 with the nominal loading of 100 mg/L were 38.1 mg C/L at the start of the exposure (0 h) and 40.1 mg C/L at the end of the exposure (48 h). The measured concentrations of dissolved organic carbon in the WAF of source chemical 2 were 21.1 mg C/L at the start of the exposure (0 h) and 21.3 mg C/L at the end of the exposure (48 h). This indicates, that the test item concentration was successfully maintained for the duration of the test. Exposures are expressed in terms of the original concentrations of the test item in water at the start of the mixing period (loading rate).

Additional information

Since both source substances showed no effects on aquatic invertebrates that were exposed to water accommodated fractions of the chemicals the EC50 value mentioned above has to be read as EL50 value >100 mg/L. Due to the structural similarity of source and target chemicals, it was concluded that the EL50 for the target substance will be >100 mg/l as well.
