Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The results as presented by Calamari and co-workers in 1980 indicate that tert-butylamine is acutely harmful to Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata. The EC50 after 96 hours of exposure was determined to be 16 mg/L, based on analytically determined test item concentrations. Since there is no detailed information, the test solutions are expected to be not-neutralised.

The test value refers to changes in fluorimetric responses. No data are given on growth rate and/or biomass. Though it is stated in the publication that the fluorimetric values were determined after 72 hours as well, the data are not presented. Therefore, the EC50 value for 72 hours has to be considered to be 16 mg/L, which is the most sensitive endpoint in the data for aquatic toxicology.
