Additional information

The substances of the category SCAE C2 -C8, including Isopropyl myristate, have potential to bioaccumulate due to their physico-chemical properties (log kow >3). However, as the substance is readily biodegradable, no chronic exposure of aquatic organisms is expected. Should the substance be taken up by fish, the group of linear aliphatic fatty acid esters has been shown to be rapidly metabolised and excreted via the enzyme carboxylesterase (Environment Canada 2006). A QSAR calculation (BCFBAF v3.00) reveals a moderate bioaccumulation potential (122.1 L/kg Arnot-Gobas including biotransformation estimate, upper trophic). Therefore, in accordance with Annex XIII the substance is not bioaccumulative.
