Description of key information

No long-term toxicity study with aquatic invertebrates is available for dipropylene glycol methyl ether acetate.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Dipropylene glycol methyl ether acetate is classified as inherently biodegradable meeting the specific criteria. Therefore, ultimate biodegradation is expected in freshwater. The risk assessment shows that the PEC/PNEC ratio is clearly < 1 in surface water, indicating no need for further information or testing. Acute toxicity tests were conducted for the three trophic levels showing that invertebrates are the least sensitive species. According to REACH Annex IX requirements, long-term toxicity testing shall only be considered when the chemical safety assessment indicates the need for further investigations. Hence, long-term testing in daphnia magna can be waived for dipropylene glycol methyl ether acetate.
