Endpoint:
vapour pressure
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
October 7 2008 to February 27 2009
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Study performed according to GLP and internationally accepted test guidelines.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.4 (Vapour Pressure)
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 104 (Vapour Pressure Curve)
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
static method
Temp.:
25 °C
Vapour pressure:
34 Pa

The vapour pressure, Vp (Pa), of the sample at each test temperature was calculated thus: Vp (Pa) = Pressure balanced (Pa) - Pressure unbalanced (Pa) The vapour pressure of 1,3-Bis(aminomethyl)cyclohexane at 298K was extrapolated from a plot of log10Vp against 1/T.

A measured value of 440 Pa at 25°C was obtained for the vapour pressure of the reference substance dimethyl formamide, in good agreement with the literature value of 439 Pa (WEAST, R.C., Handbook of Chemistry and Physics, CRC Press, 1977). The two runs gave a mean vapour pressure value at 25°C of 34 Pa.

Conclusions:
The vapour pressure of 1,3-Bis(aminomethyl)cyclohexane was found to be 34 Pa at 25°C.
Executive summary:

A package of physico-chemical testing including a vapour pressure determination was conducted to determine specific properties of the test substance 1,3-Bis(aminomethyl)cyclohexane. The vapour pressure determination was performed to OECD and EC test guidelines, and in compliance with GLP.

The vapour pressure of 1,3-Bis(aminomethyl)cyclohexane was found to be 34 Pa at 25°C.
