Using thermal analysis, no endothermic peaks were detected in the temperature range between 25 °C and 400 °C from which boiling could be deduced. During the preliminary test, an endothermic heat effect, the melting of TK 11005 (CGI 113) was observed at 72.8 °C (see RCC Study 836144). Starting at about 270 °C an exothermic reaction was observed. The exothermic reaction was caused by the decomposition of the test item. After the experiment the test item was black, carbonized and melted.

A second DSC run was performed to confirm the result found during the preliminary test.

Conclusions:
The decomposition of the test substance  was observed at ca 270°C before boiling occurred.
Executive summary:

In this guideline (OECD 103) study conducted to GLP standards, the test material (EC 438-340-0) was determined not have a boiling point as it decomposes at ca 270°C before boiling occurred.
