Description of key information

Flash point: -15°C

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Several measured flash points are available. Those known to have been conducted according to international or national standard methods are considered reliable, even where no further information about the studies is available. The reliable values are in the range -15 to 37°C (mean = 4°C).

Variations in the flash point values may be caused by variations in purity of the test substance and in the test method used. The key study was chosen as the lowest result from a reliable study, because this is the most conservative approach. The majority of the results, when combined with a boiling point of 66°C, indicate that the substance should be classified as Flammable Liquid Category 2 according to Regulation 1272/2008 and R11 according to Directive 67/548/EEC.
