Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

No experimental data are available. According to REACH regulation, Annex IX, section 9.3.2., column 2, no study regarding bioaccumulation needs to be conducted if the substance has a low potential for bioaccumulation (for instance a logKow < 3). Trigger value for undertaking an experimental aquatic bioaccumulation test is a logPow value of 4.5 or higher. Due to the measured logPow of -0.71 for 2 -pyrrolidone accumulation in organisms is not expected. Hence, no further studies regarding bioaccumulation in organisms are performed and this endpoint can be waived.

Only a QSAR calculation is done for completeness (Chemservice, 2010), resulting in a BCF (aquatic) of 3.16 L/kg

This very low value indicates a lack of bioaccumulation potential in aquatic organisms.

The terrestrial bioaccumulation potential is no mandatory requirement under REACH for 2 -pyrrolidone.
