No studies on the toxicity of LAS-TEA to sediment organisms were available. The toxicity of LAS-TEA to sediment organisms may be described by the toxicity of LAS-Na and TEA according to the read-across statement in which full dissociation of the LAS-TEA in the environment is supported.

For LAS-Na three studies on toxicity to sediment organisms were available. No studies on sediment toxicity of TEA were available. The PNECsediment is based on the most sensitive species tested (NOEC of 81 mg/kg) with the addition of an assessment factor. For comparative purposes a PNECsediment for LAS-TEA was derived using the equilibrium partitioning method (EPM) and this is described in the read-across statement. The resulting PNECsediment using EPM was higher than the assessment factor method. A precautionary approach is taken to propose a PNECsediment for LAS-TEA based on the assessment factor method and the lowest NOEC from reported sediment tests with the read-across analogue LAS-Na.
