Description of key information

The vapour pressure values cited in Lide (2008) of 10 kPa at 143.6°C and 100 kPa at 217.7°C were calculated to be 32 Pa and 36.2 Pa at 25°C respectively.

The results have been taken from the CRC Handbook (Lide 2008). No information on the primary source of these data or the methods used is available but the information is taken from a reliable peer reviewed handbook.

This is supported by Vuilleumier (1995), a published, peer-reviewed journal article on the evaporation rate of perfume ingredients. The vapour pressure values for a range of compounds are cited in the journal article without original references and no further information is provided on the test methods or conditions The vapour pressure value cited in Vuilleumier (1995) of 0.0707 Torr at 30°C was calculated to be 6.76 Pa at 25°C. The values are in rough agreement, both indicating that phenyl ethyl alcohol has low volatility in the environment and therefore the data for this endpoint can be considered reliable and suitable for use.
