The test item consists of a mixture of compounds with different degrees of ethoxylation. The determination according to the HPLC method yielded Log Kow values in the range from Log Kow 2.0 to 3.2 at 23°C and pH = 6.3 (pH of the water used for the preparation of the eluent):

Start of the distribution: Log Kow = 2.0

Main component 1: Log Kow = 2.4 (12.0 area %)

Main component 2: Log Kow = 2.5 (28.8 area %)

Main component 3: Log Kow = 2.6 (30.0 area %)

Main component 4: Log Kow = 2.8 (17.1 area %)

Main component 5: Log Kow = 2.8 (7.4 area %)

End of the distribution: Log Kow = 3.2

Main components 2 and 3 are the components with the largest peak area at λ = 230 nm.

Conclusions:
The test item consists of a mixture of compounds with different degrees of ethoxylation. The determination according to the HPLC method yielded Log Kow values in the range 2.0 - 3.2 at 23°C and pH = 6.3 (pH of the water used for the preparation of the eluent).
Executive summary:

The partition coefficient of the test substance was determined in accordance with the OECD Guideline for Testing of Chemicals 117. The partition coefficient was measured according to the HPLC method. The test item consists of a mixture of compounds with different degrees of ethoxylation. The determination according to the HPLC method yielded Log Kow values in the range 2.0 - 3.2 at 23°C and pH = 6.3 (pH of the water used for the preparation of the eluent).

Description of key information

The partition coefficient of the test substance was determined to be Log Kow 2-3.2 at 23°C and pH 6.3, and Log Kow 2.77 - 3.94 at 30°C in two tests conducted on the substance.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Log Kow (Log Pow):
2.77
at the temperature of:
30 °C

Additional information

Two studies were conducted to assess the octanol-water partition coefficient of the test substance. Both studies were considered reliable as they were conducted on the registered substance according to OECD Testing Guideline 117, using the HPLC method. The key study gave a Log Kow 2-3.2 at 23°C and pH 6.3. The supporting study gave a Log Kow 2.77-3.94 at 30°C, with 78% of the test material having a Log Kow between 3.00 and 3.2. Substances are generally considered to be bioaccumulative when the log Kow ≥ 4.5, therefore, based on the results of these studies the test substance is unlikely to be bioaccumulative.
