Based on this experience it was suspected that these variations in germination and biomass growth might have led to statistically significant differences which were not test item related.
Further non-GLP investigations indicated that the soil texture might be less affected if the soil moisture content is lower at application (mixing), therefore the study for soybean was repeated with a reduced soil moisture content (45% instead of 50% of the MWHK) at application

Conclusions:
Potential toxic effects of the test item were assessed on day 7, 14 and 21 (onion additionally on day 28) by visual observations (number of emerged seedlings and phytotoxic effects) and at test end by shoot height and shoot fresh weight determination. No test item related phytotoxic effects and mortality occurred during the test period for all plant species

Description of key information

In accordance with Column 2 (Specific rules for adaptation from Column 1) of Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 (REACH) Annex IX, Short-term Toxicity to Plants testing (required in section 9.4.3) does not need to be conducted as the substance is not classified as hazardous for environmental effects and the chemical safety assessment concludes that the substance is of no immediate concern to the environment. The available data are adequate for classification and labelling purposes. Furthermore, direct exposure of the substance to soil is unlikely.
