Description of key information

The density of a concentrated solution of lactic acid (between 80 and 86%) is ca. 1.2 g/m3; the density of a 93% solution will be slightly higher.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Density of a concentrated solution of lactic acid depends on the concentration and temperature, but also on the degree of (spontaneous, reversible) polymerisation of lactic acid. The equilibrium is thus that the maximum density is ca 1.2 g.m3.
