ENVIRONMENTAL FATE PROPERTIES

Summary of degradation

No hydrolysis or other abiotic degradation data are required for this substance, as the substance is readily biodegradable (101.63 % degradation after 28 days in OECD 301 B, McLaughlin 2012). In addition the substance has a low solubility of 0.005 mg/L (OECD 105, McLean 2013b). 

Volatilisation

The vapour pressure of the substance was determined to be 0.0127 Pa at 25°C (calculated by the Modified Grain method) and therefore the substance can be considered as not volatile.

Distribution modelling

No distribution modelling data exist. However the very high log Koc value of 6.12 indicates that the substance will adsorb to the sediment/soil compartment.

Summary of environmental distribution

Adsorption/desorption was determined in an OECD 121 HPLC test and resulted in a Koc of 1320000 corresponding to a log Koc of 6.12. This value was used for the environmental risk assessment to estimate equilibrium partition PNEC and PEC values.

 

Summary and discussion of bioaccumulation

No experimental data on bioaccumulation exist. The data are not required as the risk assessment performed concludes that the substance is of no immediate concern to the environment and its potential to bioaccumulate is considered to be low as it is readily biodegradable. The available data are adequate for classification and labelling purposes

Bioaccumulation of the substance is not expected to occur as the risk assessment performed concludes that the substance is of no immediate concern to the environment.
