Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

APPEARANCE

The test item was observed to be a light brown viscous gel during performance of GLP guideline studies.

MELTING/FREEZING POINT

The pour point of the test item was determined to be less than -20 ± 3 °C (< 253± 3 K) (OECD 102 and EU Method A.1).

BOILING POINT

The boiling temperature of the test item was determined to be from approximately 281 °C (554 K) at 102 kPa. The test item had a broad boiling range with an extrapolated onset of approximately 400°C (673 K) (OECD 103 and EU Method A.2).

RELATIVE DENSITY

Density was determined to be 898 kg/m3 at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C with a relative density of 0.898 (OECD 109 and EU Method A.3).

GRANULOMETRY

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VII, Section 7.14, granulometry does not need to be conducted if the substance is marketed or used in a non-solid or granular form. The test item is a viscous liquid and, as a result, determination of particle size distribution is not required.

VAPOUR PRESSURE

The vapour pressure of the test item was determined to be 2.4 x 10E-02 Pa at 25 °C (298 K).

PARTITION COEFFICIENT

The partition coefficient of the test item has been determined to be greater than 1.0 x 10E10, with a log10 Pow of > 10.0 (OECD 117 and EU Method A.8).

WATER SOLUBILITY

The water solubility of the test item was determined to be less than 2.04 x 10E-06 g/L at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C (OECD 105 and EU Method A.6).

SURFACE TENSION

Determination of surface tension is not required because water solubility of the test item has been shown to be less than 2.04 x 10E-06 g/L at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C.

FLASH POINT

The flash point of the test item was determined to be 210 ± 2 °C at 100 to 101 kPa (EU Method A.9).

AUTOFLAMMABILITY / SELF-IGNITION TEMPERATURE

The test item was determined to have an auto-ignition temperature of 386 ± 5 °C (EU Method A.15).

FLAMMABILITY

According to ECHA Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment chapter R.7a: Endpoint specific guidance (Version 3.0; August 2014), the primary value for ease of ignition in liquids is the flash point. The flash point of the test item was determined to be 210 ± 2 °C and used for purposes of CLP classification (non-flammable). Since the test material does not ignite in contact with air or water, and the tested sample did not contain impurities with a lower boiling point than the main component, no further investigation of flammability is required.

EXPLOSIVE PROPERTIES

Based on the idealised chemical structure of the test item the result for explosive properties has been predicted negative.

OXIDISING PROPERTIES

Based on the idealised chemical structure of the test item the result for the oxidizing properties has been predicted negative.
