- Determination of the flash point of gaseous decomposition products of chelate Fe (III) IDHA in solid form is performed according to Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). This method is based on modified, Polish Standard PN-69/C-89022 “Plastics. Determination of the ignition temperature”.
The test consists in heating a definite quantity of a substance tested according to conditions fixed in SOP and making ignition trials in fixed intervals of rising temperature till the moment of a first ignition of the thermal decomposition products appears inside the test tube.
The flash point of gaseous decomposition products of a substance tested is the lowest temperature value determined in three test tubes. The test results obtained can not differ between them more than 15% comparing to the lowest temperature measured.

- Executive summary:
Determination of the flash point of gaseous decomposition products of chelate Fe (III) IDHA in solid form was performed according to Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). This method isbased onmodified, Polish Standard PN-69/C-89022 “Plastics. Determination of the ignition temperature”. The test consists in heating a definite quantity of a substance tested and making ignition trials in fixed intervals of rising temperature till the moment of a first ignition of the thermal decomposition products appears inside the test tube. The flash point of gaseous decomposition products of a substance tested is the lowest temperature value determined in three test tubes. Two tests were conducted. In first test a glass test tube was filled with the substance tested into 1/8 of its volume and was heated up to 360oC. After a 10 s heating time a violent decomposition of the substance tested with eruption a part of solid residues outside the test tube with a small amount of fumes was observed. Test tube’s walls above a metal block covered with small amount of black pellets. A residue on the tube’s bottom was a black, pellet-like, dry substance three times bigger in volume than the tested substance at the beginning of the test. After 20 s the test tube’s walls dry, no smoke or fume, a residue inside the test tube not changed.
Ignition test was carried out again using a lower amount of the substance tested (a half amount of the substance tested was used comparing to the amount used in the first test). After 6 s a test flame got yellow colour and its volume increased. No ignition at the top of the uncovered test tube was observed. On the ground of not equivalent in meaning preliminary test II evaluation (in stainless steel test tube) an additional test of flash point in two tubes has been performed, putting a test flame onto a top of the test tubes after uncover their caps at every 10 ºC. No ignition in both test tubes was observed in the temperature range-as a result of test carried out. At the temperatures 200-a violent decomposition appeared but the gaseous products did not ignite.
In connection to above statement the main part of determining the flash point of decomposition products ofchelate Fe (III) IDHA in solid form has not been performed.
