Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
relative self-ignition temperature (solids)
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2016
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.16 (Relative Self-Ignition Temperature for Solids)
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Key result
Relative self-ignition temperature:
> 171 °C
Remarks on result:
no self-ignition observed up to the melting point

There was no abrupt rise in the temperature of the sample cube up to the temperature of 171 °C (its melting point). The relative self-ignition temperature of DPX-C (Di-Cloro-Di-p-Xililene) is above its melting point.

For confirm the relative self-ignition, oven temperature was increased up to 195 °C and corresponding sample temperature was 180 °C. At 180 °C temperature fumes was generated in sample cup and experiment was stopped it was concluded that DPX-C does not relatively self-ignite below its melting point.

Conclusions:
No self-ignition was observed up to the melting point (171 °C).

Description of key information
