First-aid measures

GENERAL INFORMATION

Provide rest, warmth and fresh air.

INHALATION

Remove to fresh air. If any breathing difficulty or discomfort develops or recurs obtain medical attention.

INGESTION

Rinse mouth out with water (do not swallow) Do not give victim anything to drink if they are unconscious. DO NOT induce vomiting. Get medical attention immediately.

SKIN CONTACT

Remove contaminated clothing. Rinse immediately with plenty of water. Get medical attention if any discomfort continues.

EYE CONTACT

Rinse the eye with water immediately. Continue to rinse for at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention if any discomfort

continues.

Fire-fighting measures

EXTINGUISHING MEDIA

Water mist/foam/CO2/dry powder * all acceptable *

SPECIAL FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURES

Keep run-off water out of sewers and water sources. Dike for water control. Avoid water in straight hose stream; will scatter and spread fire. Cool containers exposed to flames with water until well after the fire is out. Move container from fire area if it can be done without risk. Keep up-wind to avoid fumes.

UNUSUAL FIRE & EXPLOSION HAZARDS

Not flammable but combustible if exposed to external flame. No explosion hazard.

SPECIFIC HAZARDS

Fire or high temperatures create: Toxic gases/vapours/fumes of Carbon dioxide (CO2). Carbon monoxide (CO). Oxides of Phosphorus.

PROTECTIVE MEASURES IN FIRE

Use self-contained breathing apparatus

Accidental release measures

PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS

Evacuate the area Wear suitable protective clothing gloves and eye/face protection Wear suitable respiratory protection

SPILL CLEAN UP METHODS

Ensure no materials enters drains or water course. Contain and absorb onto sand, earth or vermiculite. Place in marked

container and dispose of as solid waste in accordance with local waste disposal regulations. Flush area with plenty of water.

Methods for cleaning up : Ventilate the area.  Contain spillage, soak up with non-combustible absorbent material, (e.g. sand, earth, diatomaceous earth, vermiculite) and transfer to a container for disposal according to local / national regulations

Handling and storage

USAGE PRECAUTIONS

Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Wear gloves, overalls and eye protection. The work area should be adequately ventilated.

STORAGE PRECAUTIONS

Store in tightly closed original container in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place.

Exposure controls / personal protection

ENGINEERING MEASURES

At room temperature handle in a well ventilated area. Exhaust ventilation must be used at elevated temperatures or where exposure to mist or vapours is possible.

RESPIRATORY EQUIPMENT

If ventilation is insufficient, suitable respiratory protection must be provided.

HAND PROTECTION

Gloves butyl or nitrile rubber.  Selection of a suitable glove depends on work conditions and whether the product is present on its own or in combination with other substances.

Breakthrough time is dependent on the characteristics of the brand of glove used, consult with supplier.

Gloves should be replaced immediately if signs of degradation are observed. The applicable European standard can be found in EN 374.

STABILITY

No particular stability concerns.

CONDITIONS TO AVOID

HAZARDOUS DECOMPOSITION PRODUCTS

Fire or high temperatures create: Toxic gases/vapours/fumes of: Carbon dioxide (CO2). Carbon monoxide (CO). Oxides

of Phosphorus.
