Administrative data
First-aid measures
General advice:
Immediately remove contaminated clothing. First aid personnel should pay attention to their own safety. f the patient is likely to become unconscious, place and transport in stable sideways position (recovery position).
If inhaled:
Keep patient calm, remove to fresh air, seek medical attention. Immediately administer a corticosteroid from a controlled/metered dose inhaler.
On skin contact:
Immediately wash thoroughly with plenty of water, apply sterile dressings, consult a skin specialist.
On contact with eyes:
Immediately wash affected eyes for at least 15 minutes under running water with eyelids held open,
consult an eye specialist.
On ingestion:
Rinse mouth immediately and then drink plenty of water, seek medical attention.
Note to physician:
Treat according to symptoms (decontamination, vital functions).
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing media:
water, foam, dry extinguishing media, carbon dioxide, alcohol-resistant foam
Special protective equipment:
Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and chemical-protective clothing.
Special hazards arising from the substance:
Substance/product is dangerous when exposed to heat or flames. If product is heated above decomposition temperature, toxic vapours will be released.
Further information:
Keep containers cool by spraying with water if exposed to fire. Collect contaminated extinguishing
water separately, do not allow to reach sewage or effluent systems. Dispose of fire debris and
contaminated extinguishing water in accordance with official regulations.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions:
Ensure adequate ventilation. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing. Use personal protective clothing.
Environmental precautions:
Do not empty into drains.
Methods for cleaning up or taking up:
For large amounts: Dike spillage. Cover with blanket of foam (alcohol-resistant foam). Pump off product.
For residues: Pick up with suitable absorbent material. Dispose of absorbed material in accordance
with regulations.
Handling and storage
Handling
Keep away from heat/sparks/open flames/hot surfaces. — No smoking.
Ground/bond container and receiving equipment.
Use explosion-proof electrical/ventilating/lighting/…/equipment.
Use only non-sparking tools.
Take precautionary measures against static discharge.
Store in a well-ventilated place. Keep cool.
Ensure thorough ventilation of stores and work areas. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing.
Protection against fire and explosion:
Prevent electrostatic charge - sources of ignition should be kept well clear - fire extinguishers should be kept handy.
Storage
Segregate from acids and acid forming substances.
Further information on storage conditions: Containers should be stored tightly sealed in a dry place.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Technical protection measures
The substance is rigorously contained by technical means during its whole lifecycle including manufacture, purification, cleaning and maintenance of equipment, sampling, analysis, loading and unloading of equipment or vessels, waste disposal or purification and storage. Organisational protection measures
The substance specific handling procedures are well documented and strictly supervised by the plant/production managers. Facility-specific safety and environmental protection concepts are in place that describe the required process and monitoring technologies for the specific processes. Operating instructions covering a wide range of topics are updated at regular intervals as required and all facility employees receive plant-specific training before starting their activities. BASF facilities comply with legal regulations as ensured by BASF Plant Monitoring.
Personal protective equipment
Respiratory protection:
Wear respiratory protection if ventilation is inadequate. Gas filter for gases/vapours of organic compounds (boiling point >65 °C, e. g. EN 14387 Type A)
Hand protection:
Chemical resistant protective gloves (EN 374)
Suitable materials also with prolonged, direct contact (Recommended: Protective index 6, corresponding > 480 minutes of permeation time according to EN 374):
butyl rubber (butyl) - 0.7 mm coating thickness
fluoroelastomer (FKM) - 0.7 mm coating thickness
Suitable materials short-term contact and/or splashes (recommended: At least protective index 2, corresponding > 30 minutes of permeation time according to EN 374):
nitrile rubber (NBR) - 0.4 mm coating thickness
chloroprene rubber (CR) - 0.5 mm coating thickness
Supplementary note: The specifications are based on tests, literature data and information of glove manufacturers or are derived from similar substances by analogy. Due to many conditions (e.g. temperature) it must be considered, that the practical usage of a chemical-protective glove in practice
may be much shorter than the permeation time determined through testing.
Eye protection:
Tightly fitting safety goggles (splash goggles) (e.g. EN 166) and face shield.
Body protection:
Body protection must be chosen depending on activity and possible exposure, e.g. apron, protecting boots, chemical-protection suit (according to EN 14605 in case of splashes or EN ISO 13982 in case of dust).
General safety and hygiene measures:
Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing. Avoid inhalation of dusts/mists/vapours. Wearing of closed work clothing is recommended. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Keep away from food, drink and animal feeding stuffs. When using, do not eat, drink or smoke. Store work clothing separately.
Stability and reactivity
Thermal decomposition: No decomposition if stored and handled as prescribed/indicated.
Corrosion to metals: No corrosive effect on metal.
Hazardous reactions:
Reacts with acids. Reacts with oxidizing agents.
Hazardous decomposition products:
No hazardous decomposition products if stored and handled as prescribed/indicated.

Observe national and local legal requirements.
