Description of key information

In the key study, carried out by Pedersen et al (1998), and with GLP compliance a 48h EC50 of 1.6mg/L was determined for 2,4-TDA.

Available data on toxicity to invertebrates

Two bibliographic references reported experimental results with reliability (1) and (2). Those experimental results were obtained by tests performed according to US EPA OTS 797.1300, or to OECD guideline 202 (Daphnia sp. Acute Immobilisation Test). Ecotoxicity values (24h-EC50 and/or 48h-EC50) are reported for two invertebrate species (Crustacean, Cladocera) namely Daphnia magna and Moina macrocopa. Both are freshwater species.

Acute Immobilisation on Moina macrocopa

One study of reliability (2) is available. The study havs been performed according to OECD guideline 202 (not GLP). Experimental results from the study:

24h-EC50=12.5 ppm (static conditions, nominal concentration of 2,4 -TDA)

Acute Immobilisation on Daphnia

One study of reliability (1) is available. The study was performed according to US EPA OTS 797.1300 (compliance with GLP). Experimental results from the study:

US EPA OTS 797.1300: 48h-LC50=1.6 mg/L (semi-static conditions, measured concentration of 2,4-TDA)

Under the experimental conditions of the studies, TDA was toxic to Daphnia.

Conclusion

-among the two species, Daphnia magna was the most sensitive to TDA.

-the lowest 48h-EC50 value was 1.6 mg/L.
