Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The three analogues used for the read-across (trifluoromethane, pentafluoroethane and perfluoroethane) presented several reliable reproductive toxicity studies, including prenatal developmental toxicity studies (OECD 414) and a combined repeated dose toxicity study with the reproduction and developmental toxicity screening (OECD 422), showing overall evidence that none of them is reprotoxic. As the read-across with these analogues is considered as approriate, the target substance carbon tetrafluoride is not expected to induce a reproductive toxicity.

Considering the NOAELs of the mentioned studies, it can be stated that the NOAEL of carbon tetrafluoride is similar to these values (i.e 50.000 ppm).
